THE WORLD WITHIN YOU

FIND THE WORLD WITHIN YOU
By Dr. K.V.GOVINDA RAO*

Some times we face an amusing question: Where do we belong? Before we go in quest of answer, we must realize that we belong to ourselves. We are an island within ourselves. That island can be as barren as rocks on the moon or as fruitful as an orchard or a beautiful countryside. It is within us to make of ourselves what we want to be – creatively, not destructively. You train for your goals, but they must be realistic, not dreams beyond your reach.
During moments of stress and tension, we can take a vacation. We can take this vacation every day for a few moments and it costs nothing. The daily vacation is within you, in the room of your mind. Go on this vacation when pressures are great. Relax for a few minutes, let go of the tensions, renew your energies for the problems before you.
Isn’t it wonderful to be an island within yourself briefly? But you do not stay that way. You belong to yourself, no doubt, but you also belong to the world. ‘Happiness’ lies within the world, not totally within yourself. Prepare yourself to create a perfect rhythm between these two. You realize that you need the help of others as they need yours. Man reaches his true big self when he shares his success and his big self with others. He shares his courage with others when times are tough, when there is pressure. He stands up for himself and for others, turning a crisis into an opportunity. The world is full of crisis, and we are here to help each other rise above them, to reach fulfillment, and sooner or later, the Brotherhood of Man.

WONDER OF FAITH.

By Sehaj**
Once there was a girl name Rose. She tried hard in everything. But achieved nothing. She worked hard till day and night to study, think about her future and career. Although, she was hard-working but she was deaf and a mute girl.
Once, some one told her(by the sign communication) that if she drinks water and cleans her ears with the fountains of great Church of Greece, she would be totally fine.
But that was a lie. No matter everyone tried to stop her but her ideas were strong and lively. The doctors told that she could never be fine as she was deaf and mute by birth.
She didn’t believe in the doctors and went to Greece.
She was so scared that when she drank the water and cleaned her ears with it, she was surprised. What a magic! What a miracle, she said. I am totally fine and I am so happy that now I can speak and hear and need no more to use my hands everytime to communicate. When she went to the doctors, they were shocked. Now they knew what she believed, she really-really worked hard to achieve it. When she went back to her country, she thanked her Lord Jesus and the boy who told her to do this.
When he came to know that by doing what he said ( a lie) she became fine. He felt sorry for her and told her the truth. She couldn’t believe her ears. Now she understood why the doctors didn’t believe her.

** Sehaj is aged 10 years and is studying in 5th class. She wrote the story on 31st January, 2008. Her feelings are appreciated. Paper landed in my hand and hence is ready for the world to read and appreciate.

Ideas

Ideas Work Wonders

Dear Friends,

Success starts with a thought or an idea.

When nourished with hope and confidence and encouraged by ambition and aspiration, that single idea takes shape as a dream, vision, and a goal in stages. You must allow your ideas to grow, no matter how farfetched or non-comformist they may seem in the beginning. You must give wings to your ideas and let them fly high. You must allow your thoughts to take root, no matter how others choose to regard them.

Many great ones, whom the world today worships with awe and wonder as gifted visionaries, super geniuses or miracle-makers, were viewed as utopians or mental defuncts by several of their contemporaries. While some may describe your ideas as imagination and vision, others may dub them as sheer day dreams and idle fantasies. But the fact remains that ideas, however, strange, unorthodox or heretic they might have seemed at the start, have ultimately wrought miracle, brought revolutions and built civilization.

Ideas verily rule the world, and also the minds of men. They contribute to continuing changes, shape as well as determine the destiny of human beings and contribute to the growth of civilizations. Every great and grant accomplishment, whether relating to religion, science, medicine, industry, technology, or sports, which are written in letters of gold in the history of human advancement, was in the first instance, no more than a mere idea in the mind of a human being, be he a man or woman. Revered religious texts, great classics, magnificent monuments, astonishing scientific discoveries, earth shaking inventions, fantastic technological feats like splitting the atom, heart transplant, human walking on the Moon, unraveling the secrets of Mars – have all had only ‘ideas’ at their starting points.

Ideas sprout, blossom, and lead to action with knowledge. Therefore, your success is irrevocably linked to knowledge. Knowledge is strength and knowledge is power. When you apply your knowledge and understand your problem, you will find the solution staring at you. When you know the answers, your success in an examination, test or interview is automatically assured. When you know the secret of your business, your profit and growth are guaranteed.
You do not have to go very far for an example.

The track record of Yuki Bhmabri, the young tennis star who won the 2009 Australian Open boys’ single title, is enough to prove the fact.

Today, at only 16, he symbolizes the resurgent spirit of India that not only thinks and dreams big, but also tries to translate every dream into action. In a physically demanding sport like tennis, he has done a marvel with sheer clarity of thought and mental toughness. Yuki has differently honed his game and keenly improved his physical fitness to come up to the mark.

By winning the Australian Open boys’ singles title, Yuki joined a legion of players from Lwe Head, Ken Rosewell, Rod Laver, John NewCombe, Tony Roche, Stefan Edberg and Thomas Enqvist to the more recent ones like Nicolas Kiefer, Andy Roddick, Janko Tiparevic, Marcos Bhagdatis and Gaol Manfil, who have all triumphed at the oldest junior Grand Slam event that started in 1922. He can courageously stand up to the challenges from players with explosive game. In his formative years, critics often questioned his technique, specially his pronounced backswing, but they have been silenced, as Yuki has evolved a lot.

Enabling you to gain ideas and win in life.

HEALTH

Health & Harmony

Auras

What are the auras? We each possess a “magnetic” field that radiates from us in the same way that the Sun’s rays emanate from its centre. This is the aura, and it partakes and reflects our mental, spiritual and emotional states. We all create the characteristics of our own auras by our mental, spiritual and emotional habits.

So aura is an extension of a person’s character. It is the aura we are “feeling” – with our own aura – when we feel instantaneously conscious of the strength of another’s personality and charisma.

GURSEWA CHARITABLE TRUST (Regd.)

At the Service of Motherland
B.R.S NAGAR, LUDHIANA-141 012[03](India) Email: gctr09@gmail.com

Dear Reader,
EDUCATE AND EMPOWER A CHILD.

LITTLE DROPS MAKE BIG OCEANS
Sub: Appeal to like minded people. Service to humans is service to God.

MONEY NOT, MEN MATTER

HELP US TO HELP OTHERS.

DONATE FOR

marriage of poor girls and help of poor students

When I came in this world, the world was here. I got education in the institutions which I had NOT built. I received help from the people who were not related to me by blood. This all contribution of others, my elders, ancestors and study of holy scriptures has inspired me to build institutions for learning and helping the people at large and generation NEXT irrespective of caste, color and creed. “Service to humanity is service to God” all holy scriptures and men of great learning say. When I underwent NDE, I received help from unknown people and organizations. This I have learnt after meeting NDE(Near Death Experience). So, I have dedicated my rest of the life to build institutions and work for the betterment of the life of poor human beings especially the have-nots and children of slum-dwellers. Education is empowerment. You can join me.

Institutions survive longer than humans’ life span. What is today Oxford University was once a Plato’s Academy.

Rahul Mahajan (son of Mr. Parmod Mahajan allegedly shot by his own brother, a leading political leader of BJP in India) aptly disclosed the Power of Money when he commented on TV, “I paid Rs. 1.25 crores as a medical bill of my father Pramod Mahajan. But I could not save my papa. I have learnt what is the value of money in life.”

Question is whether “money can buy happiness”. Emphatically “No”. Take the case of Mr. Ramalinga Raju of Satyam fame: 1000 designer suits, 321 shoes, 310 belts, properties spread over 63 countries. Bracelets, chains, rings and watches worth crores of rupees and now the residence is Jail. Psychiatrists feel that former Satyam Computer boss was suffering from “hoarding mania” and this landed him in Jail. “This kind of behaviour gives the buyer false sense of control over life situations”, says Sandeep Vohra, consultant psychiatrist Delhi Apollo Hospital.

Mahatma Budha says, “A kind man who makes good use of wealth is rightly said to possess a great treasure, but the miser who hoards up his riches will have no profit.”

LIFESTYLE PROBLEMS

SENIOR CITIZENS’ LIFESTYLE PROBLEMS
By Dr. (BRIG. RETD)M.L.KATARIA

There was an alarming press report referring to the WHO some time ago that lifestyle ailments were likely to cost India more $2.5 billion in the coming couple of decades. What are these ailments and which age groups are vulnerable to them?

Here are some of the health-related questions often asked by senior citizens:

Question
: I am 65 and a diabetic. What is the usual life-span for a diabetic and the recommended lifestyle?
Answer: With controlled blood sugar levels and a regulated lifestyle, I know diabetics at 85, 90 and above.
Q: What are the acceptable blood sugar levels?
A: The fasting blood sugar level should be around 100 mgm% and the post-paradial levels 11/2 to 2 hrs after prescribed meal should not exceed 140 mgs.
Q: How to maintain these blood sugar levels?
A: In a normal person insulin secreted by the pancreas, a massive gland in the abdomen, controls the blood sugar levels. There is an autonomous reciprocity between the quantum of carbohydrate diet ingested and the insulin secretion. A diabetic is an insulinaenic. Therefore, the pancreatic gland has to be flogged by drugs to produce more insulin to cope with the metabolism of carbohydrates to yield energy for the body.
Q: For general knowledge could you please mention some of these drugs?
A: There is a plethora of drugs in the market to control diabetes. Commonly used drugs are Metformis, Glybendamides, Gliclazids and Pyciglitazones prescribed singly or in combination, besides the injectable insulin. As over-dose may lead to fatal hypoglycaemia, these drugs should be used under medical advice.

Q: Can diabetes be controlled without drugs?
A:
Yes, mild diabetics can maintain blood sugar levels with in normal limits by diet control and regular exercise. A low carbohydrate diet and exercise can reduce the drug dosage even in an advanced diabetic. Alcohol seems to worsen the blood sugar levels.
Q: In brief, what be a diabetic’s lifestyle?
A: Low carbohydrate diet, preferably vegetarian, with a lot of fibre, regular exercise, with minimum drug dosage and a monthly/quarterly blood sugar monitoring. A diabetic should have his own Glucometer.
Q: I am 70 plus, a case of high blood pressure, on Indral 25 mg. daily for the past 10 years. Many drugs for blood pressure have flooded the market. I am interested in knowing about them. Should I give up Indral and change over to any of the latest drugs?
A: All the drugs for BP belong to the basic groups of beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, angiotensin, converting enzyme blockers, vasodialators, diuretics, etc. Multinational pharmaceutical companies have given them various names. These are used singly or in combination by doctors to control blood pressure. If Indral has so far kept your BP under control without any side-effect, it should not be changed.
Q: What are the formal limits of BP?
A: Blood Pressure is not the same during 24 hours. There are diurnal variations. As an average, it should be around 120/80 (mm of mercury) preferably 110/70, but not more than 140/90, at any time.
Q: What is the recommended lifestyle for a person with confirmed hypertension?
A: A low salt and fat diet, with regular exercise, normal limits of weight, a bi-annual check on lipidogram, renal function tests, an ECG and above all, a stress-free equanimity of any an easy-going mind.
Q: I am 80 and cannot enjoy dream-free sleep. I often wake up at 2 or 3 a.m. and have to take a half or full tablet of diazopan. What should be my lifestyle to enjoy dream-free sound sleep and no diazopan?
A: Most worldly-wise elderly persons have an anxiety neurosis due to domestic, financial, social and physical problems resulting in insomnia or sleeplessness. Enlarged prostrate, osteoporosis, multi-joint pains, high BP, muscular convulsions and many more must be isolated and treated. A lifestyle of gradual withdrawal and detachment from financial ambitions, social and domestic obligations should ease the mind. Diazopan is too strong a sedative. All sleeping pills, as a rule, should be avoided. They give addiction and have side-effects over the long run. If required, occasionally, Alprazoneles in fractional doses of 0.25 to 0.50 mmm may be taken for insomnia, but not as a regular habit.

RIGHT TIME FOR BRUSHING THE TEETH

TEETHING TROUBLES: THE BEST TIME TO BRUSH
by Dr. H.S. Chawla*
“When should I brush?” is a common query directed at me. Patients, friends and acquaintances want to know whether they should brush in the morning, evening or at night and, secondly, before or after meals.

Generally, one brushes to remove food particles from the teeth. Some of you brush to keep the teeth white and sparkling – which contributes immensely to an overall smart appearance – and others to avoid bad breath. Children brush because their parents tell them to.

The common dental diseases – dental caries and gum diseases – are caused by bacteria in the mouth. Bacteria live in every mouth, on the teeth and the upper surface of the tongue. Bacterial aggregation on teeth is called dental plaque. The difference between a disease-free mouth and one with disease is that the former has lower concentration of bacteria whereas the latter has more.

Bacterial action upon food produces acid. The acid is formed almost immediately upon eating. The acidity of dental plaque increases (in scientific terminology, the pH of dental plaque decreases). Acid erodes tooth enamel (the outer hard layer of the tooth). Many attacks like this on enamel produce cavities in the teeth.

Therefore, the main aim of cleaning your teeth should be to remove dental plaque and reduce bacterial concentration. This keeps teeth free from cavities and gum-disease. When this happens, all other objectives of cleaning the teeth are automatically achieved. Here are various options regarding timing:

Brushing immediately after meals.

There are many nooks and corners in the mouth where bacteria can live and multiply. Because of the tight contact between one tooth and the other, it is practically impossible to get rid of all these bacteria. The acid forms and starts eroding tooth enamel almost immediately upon eating. It takes about 30 minutes for the acidity of the plaque to return to normal.

Thus, brushing right after eating is not at all advised, as the acid produced has already begun the process of eroding enamel. If you brush promptly after a meal, you rub off part of the dissolved minerals of the enamel.

When you brush after meals, you should wait for at least an hour to give time for at least an hour to give time for the acidity of plaque to decrease. It will set the environment for re-mineralisation.

Brushing before meals:

Most people normally brush their teeth in the morning before breakfast. That is beneficial, as you have reduced the number of bacteria before exposing them to food. The amount of acid production is expected to be less, and so would be the damage to the teeth. You get an additional benefit if you use fluoride tooth paste, as the fluoride gets incorporated into the enamel and makes it strong and resistant to the effect of acid. (Fluoride converts the hydroxyl-apatite of enamel to calcium fluor-apatite).

Brushing before dinner

Similarly, based on the above concept, brushing before dinner, indeed, is more beneficial than post-dinner brushing. However, it is essential to get rid of the food particles sticking in the oral cavity after dinner. To achieve this inter dental cleaning along with a little bit of brushing is also needed before retiring to sleep. Otherwise, thanks to the decrease of salivary secretions while we sleep, and the mouth remaining closed for a prolonged period, an ideal environment is created for bacteria to multiply.

Brushing at any time of the day

Thorough brushing at any time of the day is more beneficial than half hearted brushing at selected times. I involves brushing without tooth paste for 5-7 minutes and spitting out each time as the mouth becomes filled with spit, followed by brushing with tooth paste. Inter-dental cleaning with dental floss (or with inter-dental brush) is then carried out. Brush once again with tooth paste.

Thorough brushing whenever you have the time is preferred over half-hearted brushing before or after meals. If you do not spend time on brushing, you are just removing bacteria from one segment of your teeth and re-settling them on another. Brushing before meals is more beneficial than after meals. Brushing immediately after meals should be avoided.

HAPPY LIFE FORMULA

FORMULA FOR A HAPPY LIFE
By Harish Dhillon

WITH the plethora of books published recently, on the art of living and wellbeing, there are many formulas for leading a happy life. A friend, however, has evolved his own formula.

We were both students at Lucknow University and came together during the production of a radio play for an inter-university youth festival- I wrote the script, he read the main part. I was impressed by his quiet dignity and of course, his powerful voice. We became friends and I took to dropping in when he rehearsed for his many theatrical performances. In spite of being the best actor in the group, he was content with whatever role the director gave him and brought to each a passionate dedication. We were all convinced that his great talent would soon come to be widely recognized.

But destiny thought otherwise. He fell in love with a girl from another community and the situation threatened to take an ugly communal turn. The young couple eloped and he found a job with a travel agency. Things were made more difficult by the impending arrival of a baby. But through all the turmoil, he retained his calm and serenity and with his great diligence he rose steadily in the office hierarchy. There was an improvement in his life-style, too, but with two school-going children, the financial situation remained precarious.

Then he set up a travel agency of his own. Here he created innovated opportunities for enlarging his business. A large number of Buddhist pilgrims who visited India from Thailand had language difficulties. He sent his secretary to Thailand to learn the language: practically every Thai tourist now came through his agency.

Contrary to the common perception, not all Americans tourists are huge spenders.
his specifically designed economy packages for young Thai tourists were fully subscribed for the next 10 years, by which time he had become a multi-millionaire.

If he felt any regret at losing out on his acting, he did not show it. Then, suddenly, he sold his travel agency and moved to Bombay to try his luck in films. In four years, he appeared in dozens of films but in very brief roles. He seemed happy and content.

But he did not lose his ability to create opportunities. He invited me to a performance where, on a bare stage, with the spotlights focused on him, he launched into the story of Sohrab and Rustom. He used his powerful voice with mesmerizing effect and a spell bound hush descended on the hall. As he drew to the climax there were not many dry eyes in the audience. The end was greeted with loud and sustained applause.

His formula in a happy life lay in striking a balance between a dignified, serene acceptance of what destiny gave him, on the one hand and a passionate search and pursuit of opportunity on the other.

GIST:
What I learnt from this article.

Everybody is blessed with a unique Gift called talent, very few identify and dare to open it.
Problems are part of life. They should not bog us down. We should use them as stepping stones for success i.e. what we want in life..
We should balance the life in pain and pleasure.
Dignity builds a better and happy life.
Positive attitude, ability to search and pursue the opportunity brings the improvement and happiness in life.
Every soul will go to the place it belongs to. Means soul is not satisfied till it achieves the goal or what it wants i.e. we should make our passion our profession and surely we will never tire. We should keep trying applying our awareness, knowledge, prayer and consciousness. we will achieve our goal and feel satisfied in life.
We should avoid controlling people and circumstances, the nature will support us in achieving our goal more easily.

READING

Good books
are like
blessings from God.
They change us
without any rebuke or slap.
Reading is a silent encounter of two remote minds.
If you want real success in life,
you need to read exhaustively to understand the roots
of your problems
and finding solutions to them
permanently and perfectly.
This cannot be done by asking others
including your creator.
Believe it:
God helps those who help themselves.
If you want change in others's behaviour, give them books and other reading material or written note. Don't waste your energy in talking, arguring, scolding or repremanding.

POLICING THE PEOPLE

Problem-oriented approach is central to police functioning, says Sankar Sen*
----------------------------------------------------------------
A Tribune Special
Policing, despite many existing stereotypes, is an extraordinarily complex endeavour. By the very nature of the function, the police are an anomaly in a free society. In a democratic society, as H. Goldstrein puts it, “ they are invested with a great deal of authority under a system of governance in which the authority is granted, sharply curtailed. “
Nevertheless a successful functioning of the police in a democratic society depends upon its ability to maintain a certain degree of order without which a free society cannot function. The strength of a democratic society, the quality of life enjoyed by the citizens, are determined in a large measure by the ability of the police to discharge their duties efficiently.
Police organizations have some of their own peculiar characteristics. Police Officers, unlike Army units, are spread out in the field and not subject to direct supervision. The individual officers possess awesome authority to deprive people of liberty, and even of their lives, and this authority of necessity is delegated to individuals to be exercised in most instances without proper review and control.
In western democratic countries, particularly in the U.S, the prevalent professional model of policing places a high value on police being apolitical. It advocates tight discipline, efficient use of personnel and technology as well as high standards of training.
However, the professional model came under enormous pressure in the later 1960s and early 70s with increase in crime, civil rights protest movements and complaints of minority groups against the police.
Researches on police and police operations conducted during the 1970s revealingly showed limitations of practices like random patrol, rapid response, follow-up criminal investigations that constituted the bedrocks of policing for many years.
The lessons drawn from these studies challenged the value of standard operating procedures of the police and revealed that police resources have been invested in a limited number of practices based on some simplistic concepts of the police role.
The researchers also provided some other important insights. These are police deal with a range of problems many of which are not criminal in nature; arrest and prosecution alone, traditional functions of the police, do not resolve the problems; the police can use a variety of methods to redress the recurrent problems and design different solutions to solve them. Police use a wide range of methods, formal and informal, in getting the job done. Law enforcement is only one of the methods among the many.
It was Goldsteing who first coined the term, “ problem-oriented policing” in 1979. He felt that professional policing only takes a very narrow view of policing and “perpetuated the conflict between the concern for operating efficiently and concern for substance”. He views problem-oriented as comprehensive plan for improving policing in which high priority is attached to addressing substantive problems that face the police. In professional model of policing, the major emphasis is on handling incidents effectively. The efficiency of policing is judged by how speedily they solve the problem assigned to them and thus police officers often deal with the superficial manifestations of deeper problems.

The first step in problem-oriented policing is to move beyond just handling the incidents and take a more in-depth interest by understanding and appraising the forces and factors giving rise to them. The problem thus becomes the unit of police work and serves as a reminder that the job of policing is much more than dealing with crime and criminal law.
The police must proactively try to solve the problems rather than react to the consequences of the problem.
A crucial feature of policing is that it seeks solutions tailored to specific problems. Arrest and law enforcement are not abandoned, but an effort is made in each situation to analyse the problem carefully to find out which of the alternative responses are best suited for effectively dealing with the problem.
The notion of choosing the tool that best suits the problem instead of grabbing the most familiar and convenient tool in the toolbox lies close to the heart of the problem solving.
Goldstein advocated that police must recognize their role in society as broader than just enforcing the criminal law. At the same time , he argued that the police mandate may not be unlimited and all –encompassing.
According to him, the police become involved in every government and quasi-government activities, they risk eroding the balance of power in local and national government. Like the army, there is a sound rationale for keeping police out of certain forms of decision- making. There is an obvious danger that the police agencies may over-extend their resources and try to achieve objectives about which they have little or no expertise.
Problem oriented approach requires careful search for alternatives by the police. This is a legitimate enterprise central to police functioning. The police should be dissuaded from applying a single response haphazardly to a wide range of different types of problems.
However, search for alternatives should be preceded by a careful analysis of the new problems of concern. Striking out in a new direction without thinking through the problem can be counter-productive and has to be discouraged.
In problem solving, the police play the role of helping the community rather than depending on police power and criminal justice system control. The police have also tried to make use of specific forms of social control inherent in existing relationships like parents over children rather than depending on police power for control. Indeed, there are enormous potentials for making greater use of the other social control mechanism.
There are critical differences between community policing and problem-oriented policing. They have different goals and methods. It reduced Goldstein’s intensive analysis of community-wide problems to a more general street problem solving which tends to focus on problem smaller in scope.

Officers analyse these and tend to draw on personal experience for responses. It is more analytical than knee-jerk law enforcement.
Lay members of the community assume that the police have much more authority and capacity than they actually possess. Explaining the constraints and limitations of the police to the community will enable the community to realize the difficulties and limitations under which the police operate. This will ease the pressure on the police and police suggestions and proposals will evoke better response from the community.
In a democratic society in which complex social problems will always place a heavy demand on the police, it is necessary to strive constantly, and not periodically for a form of policing that is not only effective but also humane and civil, that not only protects individual rights and other values basic to a democracy but strengthens our commitment to them.
Of late, initiatives have been taken up to expand problem-oriented policing programmes. The work sponsored by Britain’s Home Office has special significance. It introduces the situational approach- a concept that emphasizes changing the environment(rather than changing the people) and the need to concentrate on specific types of offences or locales.
However, problem-oriented policing requires incorporating these efforts to the mainstream of policing and making them an integral part of the police management and operations.

HUMAN RIGHTS

A tool of social revolution.
By
Justice Pritam Pal*

THE rights of man have been the concern of all civilizations from time immemorial. The people of earlier age were familiar with human rights. The concept of human rights is not new for us too.
Indian history is warranted by the fact that human rights jurisprudence has always progressed smoothly though a historical path and never lost its link with the past. The philosophers of Vedic Age opine that human rights, earlier called as “natural rights”, are inherent in our nature without which we cannot live as human beings.
A lot needs to be done for a just, peaceful and humane society where human rights of every individual are respected. Unfortunately, human rights abuses continue unabated. These include
· Extra judicial killings
· Fake encounters
· Custodial deaths in Police Lock-ups
· Excessive use of force by security forces in disturbed areas
· Arbitrary arrests and continued detention,
· Prolonged detention while undergoing trial
· Occasional limits on freedom of press and freedom of movement
· Harassment and arrest of human rights monitors
· Extensive societal violence against women
· Female bondage
· Forced prostitution and female infanticide and
· Discrimination against those with disabilities.
Human rights and fundamental freedoms allow us to develop fully and use our human qualities, our intelligence, our talents and our conscience and to satisfy our spiritual and other needs. They are based on mankind’s increasing demand for a life in which the inherent dignity and worth of each human being will receive respect and protection.
It is time to analyse the scope and sphere of human rights.. What are the actual limits of human rights, the extent of practice, what to ignore and what should be given due importance? A lot is being done in this field today.
Yet there is the flip side too. The term is being misused by many which is unfair and immoral. An adequate system of checks and balances might help solve this problem.
India has seen a lot of development in human rights. The Constituent Assembly tried to make the Constitution which would enable Indians to “wiper every tear from every eye” and free the country from ignorance, hunger, poverty, squalor, exploitation and discrimination. The Supreme Court has left no stone unturned to keep us the standards and promises made in the Constitution.
The latest judicial trend reveals that Indian courts are enthusiastic in using the law as a tool of social revolution. The process of social change through law involves not only the legislature but law courts also interact and react through interpretative device.
Former Chief Justice, P.N.Bhagwati highlighted the new swing and significance of the judicial process. The theatre of the law is fast changing and the problems of the poor are coming to the forefront. The court has to innovate new methods and devise new strategies for bringing justice to those who are denied their basic human rights and to whom, freedom and liberty has no meaning.
A study of notable cases of the Supreme Court proves that Indian judiciary has echoed strong sentiments in favour of the rights of the downtrodden, poor, women and children. The scope of Article 21 of the Constitution has been widened in the light of changing values of Indian society. The new interpretation of Article 21 has brought about a vital change in human rights jurisprudence.
Though a lot has been done, we find the picture as a mix of many successes with occasion failure due to strange conditions in the country. India is proud of its successful national movement against the foreign rule, but it is shameful that we are facing internal failures in creating just social order beyond the burden of caste and gender deprivation despite 60 years of Independence.
The United Nations’ first Secretary General, U.Thant once said, “The establishment of human rights provides the foundations upon which rests the political structure of human freedom; the achievement of human freedom generates the will as well as the capacity for economic and social progress; the attainment of economic and social progress provides the basic for true peace.” He rightly saw in the promotion and protection of human rights in the “ascending spiral “, as he called it, of human freedom and progress, prosperity and peace.
We still have to go a long way to inculcate a human rights culture to get rid of the unjust society which denies the masses their right to be human. We must not let the concept of human rights get corrupted just because some of us want to take undue advantage of the same.
We should have caring and sensitive society, a society which does not pay lip service only to human rights but sees to it that they are available to all classes, castes and sections in the society, fulfilling the ethose of our Indian Vedic culture denoting Sarve Bhavantu Sukhkhina (Happiness for all).

DIET

A new breakthrough secret is all you now need in order to forever shed countless pounds, stay healthy, and add many years to your life!
A lady doctor from Arizona has blown the lid off the best-kept secret in weight loss ever discovered -- and this has the whole diet food and drug industries turned upside down and in nothing less than a torrential uproar.
Her name is Dr Suzanne Gudakunst, and she's marching to the beat of a different drum.
And no, nothing about her "secret" is difficult -- nor does it require that you do something completely out of the ordinary or anything unnatural.
Instead, the Arizonian boasts proudly "...this is something that I caught onto just before 2002 when there was so much research and exploration going around concerning the human colon and digestive system working in harmony with nutritional absorption, and I started doing independent studies just to test things at first ... but which I later expanded on after seeing some fantastic results."
This same woman medical practitioner went on to accurately determine a definitive correlation between harmful plague and parasitic infestations of the human bowel tract, and people suffering chronic obesity -- and who despite intense diet and exercise appeared to be unable to lose any weight whatsoever.
Over the course of six years the Arizona doctor developed a number of natural treatments for the removal of these same harmful, even life-threatening plaques and rapidly reproducing digestive parasites -- and when applied to even worse-case patients suffering extreme obesity (98% of which were in immediate danger of dying) she saw a 100% effectiveness and success rate.
She then borrowed from her research on the severely obese, and applied the same strategies on milder cases of overweight persons -- only to find the same effectiveness and quality results as described above (although the individual weight loss per subject wasn't nearly as much as those obese patients 100 lbs to 200 lbs or more overweight).
So powerful is her secret that she's able to reverse diabetes, rid illness altogether in people suffering from cancer (linked directly to poor diet and overweight factors), as well as an elimination of an entire spectrum of serious and otherwise life-threatening diseases.
Nearly 100% of all her case subjects were told in the alternative by "conventional doctors" that they either had just months or years to live, or they would never live a life anything resembling remotely a "normal" existence -- yet after applying Dr Suzanne's treatments saw a complete contradiction to others doctors' prognoses.
Again, nothing about her secret is unnatural or requires someone to do any major action or modification in their lives.
In fact, her entire treatment is based completely on built-into-nature 'protection agents' scattered throughout the world in the form of select herbs, extracts, and organic constituents, and which can be found in a variety of plants -- but when combined in specific combinations and carefully chosen amounts make for a solution to what is perhaps the world's worst ever plague: OBESITY (and the illnesses and diseases resulting from it -- or at least severely aggravated or exacerbated by it).
Now to everyone else's great gain, whether suffering from just a few extra pounds and inches, to those extremely fat and overweight, this brave, bold lady doctor is releasing to the general public her secret for forever destroying the tight unrelenting closed-fist of obesity's stronghold over the now more than 40% of Americans labeled obese, and others worldwide.
But she's not promising any of us for how long.
Some experts and sociologists suggest that in the bigger scheme of things, the world will never tolerate a discovery of such magnitude, any more than it would be realistic to expect a car that runs on water (even if very real) to ever become commercially available to the general public for day-to-day use.
One well-respected and famous diet & wellness author wrote years ago that if anyone ever "truly unlocked the keys to permanent fat loss, they may actually suffer the same fate as JFK."
It is currently available at:
=> http://best2deals.fatsecret.hop.clickbank.net
...so you may want to head on over there now and get it and before someone or "something" gets it forever yanked out of ever getting in YOUR hand at least.
It's in a very easily readable format and is quickly and readily understood and mastered by anyone with even a 4th grade reading level.
While you're there, why not scroll down and review for yourself the huge successes others are now having with this incredible breakthrough in rapid, massive weight loss and extremely improved and enhanced health, now made freely available to the rest of us?

FORGIVE, FORGET AND SMILE
REMEMBER, REGRET AND BE SAD

MUSHROOM SHEDS WEIGHT

New study suggests that diet rich in Mushroom shed weight. In the study, it was found that volunteers who ate mushroom instead of meat in four identical meals a week shed almost 13 lbs( 6kg) over five week, with one losing 1.5 stone (9.5kg)
The study also found that one man and nine women, aged between 25 and 61, shed a total of 127lbs(57.6kg) over the course of the trial.
In another recent trial, Margret Hill, a 25 –year-old mother to two from Dagenham in Essex, went from 13st 61lbs to 11st 1 lb – ANI.

EXERCISES FOR UPPER BACK PAIN

· Cross hands over chest and rotate them.
· Hold a stick behind the neck and rotate the trunk.
· Standing back towards the wall, sliding arms on the wall.
· Prone-raise both arms.
· Wall push-ups.
· Rowing exercise with stretch hand.
· Shoulder shrugs(with barbell/band)
· Lateral rows-holding band and raising sideways.

The neck and upper back region is an extremely complex area of the body because of many joints working in coordination.
Most treatments usually are not effective as they only address the symptoms not the cause of the affliction. Hence exercise is advised.

LEADERS: LEARN FROM OBAMA

TAKE A CUE FROM OBAMA

The US President-elect Mr. Baraka Obama has named senator Ms. Hillary Clinton as his Secretary of State, who was till the other day his rival, a candidate in the race for presidential nomination. Further, he has decided to retain Mr. Robert Gates as Defence Secretary who has served several Republican administrations.
Are such arrangement possible in India? In theory, it is the prerogative of the Prime Minister to select and appoint the members of his Cabinet. But in India, merit rarely prevails. We wish that wisdom of Mr. Obama dawns on our leaders too.

GREATEST PLEASURE

The world’s greatest pleasure
is in sharing
what
we have with the unfortunate
.
“Giving
is
the highest expression of potency;
In the very act of giving,

I experience myself as overflowing, spending,
alive. Hence joyous.”

HAPPINESS

Those who lack patience,
lack the art of enjoying happiness
.

Only a life lived for others
is a life worthwhile

DESPAIR

If you’re feeling low,

don’t despair.

The sun has a sinking spell

every night,

But it comes back

up

every morning.

HAPPINESS

Happiness is the only good.
The place to be happy is here;
The time to be happy is now
the way to be happy is to help others

Joy comes galloping to the help of him,’
Who makes another person happy.

CHARITY

He who earns,
and
gives some of it away,
O Nanak,
he has found the right way.

INNER VOICE

He who hears
the inner voice
within him,
Has no need
to listen to
others’ words

GREED

There is enough
for
satisfying everyone’s basic needs,
but not for satisfying
even one man’s greed.

BOOKS AND WISDOM

Collection of books
is not
knowledge or wisdom.
It is the application
of the knowledge and wisdom
contained in them.
Cllection
of bricks cannot
be called a building.
Bricks need to be
used with wisdom
to build
a building or house.

CREDIT WORTHINESS

Credit should be preserved

at all costs,

Once lost,

it will be very difficult to recover it

“Credits is like a looking glass,

which,

when once sullied by

a breath,

may be wiped clear again;

But

if once cracked can never be

repaired.

HABIT CULTIVATION

I give people
What they want
In hope

They will begin to want
What I want

To give them

PLEASING OTHERS

I give people
What they want
In hope

HAPPINESS

Why destroy present happiness

by a distant misery

which may never come at all,

or you may never live to see it?

Every substantial grief

has

twenty shadows

and

most of the shadows

are

of your own making.

Time heals quietly, slowly

and

certainly.

VALUE THE VISITOR

He who come to you
At the cost of time;
Respect his wishes
Without reason or rhyme.

PRAYERS

Your prayers
are never lost.
They are always answered.
It is a question of time as to when you realize it.

“Never was a faithful prayer lost-
some prayers have a longer voyage than others,
but then
they return with their richer lading at last,
so that the praying soul
is
a gainer by waiting for an answer.

EXPERIENCE

“However
learned or eloquent,
man knows nothing truly
what he had not learned
from experience.”

HATRED

HATRED VS. LOVE
Hatred paralyses LIFE,
love releases it.
Hatred confuses life,
love harmonises it.
Hatred darkens life,
love illuminates it.
IF the ego rises,
all else will also rise.
If it subsides,
all else will also subside.

PARDON

Pardon all men,
but not thyself.
Pardon is
the most
glorious revenge.

WORLD IS STAGE

All the world is a stage

and

all the men and women merely players.

They have their exit and their entrances.

Any one man in his life plays many parts,

his act being seven stages.

No garments can conceal character.

The man comes out sooner or later.

TRUST

Trust men,
and
they will be true
to you.
Treat them greatly,
and
they will show themselves great.
Paradise lies in the shadow of swords.

BEST TEACHER

Experience is the best teacher.
It is the extract of suffering.
“It is one of the sad conditions of life
that experience is not transmissible,
no man will learn from the suffering of another.
He must suffer himself.

TRUE MAN

He is truly a man,
who
has made money his slave.
He is not fit to be called a man
who
does not know how to make use of money.
“ Man lives to add more
and
yet more to his wisdom
and
not to multiply his material possessions
beyond proportion.
Things, material cannot be put to more use of
than the requirement.
Men first acquire material possession
at the cost
of health and happiness which nature
has given,
thereafter they,
use material possessions to acquire
health and happiness.
