4, Feel the rays are going down towards toes.
5, You will feel certain strong jerks. This means body is relaxing and stress is going out of the body.
6. Do this for 5 minutes.

KING SIZE LIFE

Live Life

King Size

This is an article by Renee Singh – a Chandigarh based psychoanalyst published in The Tribune, 10th June, 2014 . I adore her a lot as her articles make me aware about my shortcoming to reach my goal of attaining “full happiness” and burst stress.

We can all have a little fun in our lives to make us feel better.

Rather having fun actually needs to be a regular occurrence. There are a few relaxing social activities that can develop into regular habits and have loads of fun.

“Loosen up, lighten up” … is the mantra to de-stress. If we let ourselves just be and not try to be too analytical (I say avoid “petty analysis and live happier and longer) or critical of ourselves as well as others, we would definitely be happier.

“He who smiles rather than who rages is always the stronger”…..goes a Japanese saying.

TARGET HAPPINESS

Most people just flow along with life, taking it easy and allowing the flow to take over. This could work for some of us to some extent, but if you really want to enjoy life you have to create a mental self-disciplinary way. Set yourself  happiness targets and live up to them.

LIFT YOUR MOOD

Enjoying your life is not just simple indulgence. Getting more of what you enjoy into your life is a great way to bust stress, as it basically leads to a better frame of mind.

LAUGH IT OFF

With the right attitude, stress can easily roll away from your inner self. Cultivate the ability to laugh in the face of stress; this is a great way of enjoying life to the fullest as you are less affected by stress. A good laughter releases endorphins and other healthy hormones that relieve stress. Laughter leaves us with a positive and healthy frame of mind.

STRESS RELIEVERS

There are many great stress relievers though it is not very easy to stick to them. However, the fun stress relievers are easier to practice on regular basis. And you also look forward to them.

PLAY GAMES

Playing games whether it’s with adults or with kids is a great stress reliever. Games keep us in the present. Allow your inner child to play on a regular basis. If you are a parent, just make it a habit to enjoy with your children. Do everything in the day with a playful attitude and watch stress melt away.

BOOK YOURSELF

Books provide the right distraction and escape from stress. We can spend time with them at our own convenience and our own leisure.

GARDENING SPACE

Bonding with nature is a great way of re-connecting with your self. Beautifying your space helps in beating stress.

ARTISTIC NOTE

Re-discover your artistic side. Doodling, painting and sketching help you express yourself; unleash the bottled up emotions from within.

FRIENDLY TIES

This is one of the most relaxing practices. It is only with your friends that you can let your hair down and just be yourself.

TELL JOKES

One can forward messages that are funny and these make you chuckle or even laugh.

CLEAR THE CLUTTER

This may not sound like a fun activity but less clutter would mean less stress in the environment which helps ease your mood.

REMAIN IN PRESENT

The Basing yourself firmly in the present moment helps in de-stressing. There is a long list of things that can help you beat the stress. See what appeals to you and just go for it!

Life Skills

Personality Development Skills
SLM-1 (Mind Power SPOKEN ENGLISH Institute)

Hello student,

Here below are the skills that can enhance your personality for better living.

  1. There is one difference that makes you different from others and successful in life. The difference is gut feelings, enthusiasm and self-motivation. Have you seen your puppy  running with extra ordinary energy when it sees the ball i.e. the goal it loves? This kind of gut feelings, enthusiasm and self-motivation leads anyone to achieve anything in life.
  2. For achieving what is at #1 we need to modify our behaviour. Thoughts pop up in mind – positive and negative. Thoughts are like air entering our houses. Storm that is also air brings along with dust too. Same is with negative thinking. It destroys our dreams. Keep in mind always – positive thoughts. Don’t waste your mental energy on thinking “why is this difficult or impossible.” Just dare and think “how can it done” and do.
  3. Know your rights. You have the right to make mistakes and not feel guilty. Feeling guilty for mistakes is one of the biggest stress creating agents. There is none in the world who has not committed mistakes. Wise don’t feel guilty and mend the mistake next time. Mistakes are part of your learning process.
3.1     You have right to say “No” to unwanted demands from others – be it your own kith and kin.  Yes learn to say “No” politely, tactfully and without hurting others’ feelings. Say it graciously.
3.2     You have the right to make and follow your own priorities.
3.3     You have the right to love yourself. Never compare. Accept yourself in absolute totality. Celebrate yourself saying yourself “YES, I have done it. I can do it. God has made me unique. There is none in the world like me. I will design my life and I will live life of my dreams.”
3.4     You have the right to dream and follow those dreams.
3.5     You have the right to take responsibility of your life. You are a member of the team yet different from the team.
  1. Law of success: Love yourself. Accept yourself in absolute totality and never compare. Comparison is hell. Winners beat their own records. Losers compare with others. Think positively. Positive thoughts create health and opportunities, negative thoughts destroy health and opportunities.
  2. Learn to handle anger: Anger is a disabling emotion. Anger increases pulse rate, rises blood pressure. It burns the vessel (who indulges in anger) more than the vessel (who faces anger) upon which it is poured. It is like acid. Whenever you feel that the situation will provoke you to be angry (1) Drink 2 glasses of water (2) Closing eyes do deep breathing (3) Just keeping mouth shut count up to 20. These are some of the ways suggested by world renowned psychologists. Anger destroys internal immunity, decreases patience which is very essential for becoming GREAT from good. In anger, the root of the problem is clouded. Save yourself. Say less, observe more is GOLDEN rule to find the root of the problem. Instead of unexpectedly exploding on some person or situation, let your brain question the root of the problem. YOU CAN DO IT.
  3. Think positively to live happily. Send positive messages to your mind and heart. Count your blessings and feel the gratitude. Whenever in doubt for happiness, think about the people who don’t have what you have and enjoy. Deep breathing and meditation (not medication) make a person her/his own cheerleader. Permanent happiness does not come from mental possession and expectation, it comes from feeling of self-fulfillment.
You are more powerful than what the people around you tell. Write your strengths and weaknesses. You will find that you have less weaknesses. Whatever weaknesses you have that you will be able to control and overcome just within a period of 6 months.  Love what you do. Don’t regret. Enjoy life to the fullest extent. YOU CAN DO. Mind ready everything is easy.  Always say to your mind: YES I CAN. If you are mentally saying, “ I can’t”, you are creating mental barriers and blocks for your body to work. YES I CAN itself is energy. Boost yourself with this energy. Saying “Yes” itself to the people around you itself is creating positive energy or say “least mental resistant”  in your mind. That’s all for the day.

Knowledge is knowing the dots, wisdom is connecting those dots to achieve what you desire.

STRESS BUSTER

STRESS BUSTER
                   Renee Singh*

Learning how to relax definitely enhances the quality of our lives by countering the negative effects of stress.

We manage to restore depleted energy levels, feel fresh and revitalized and we are re-charged to deal with the pressures of our modern day lifestyle.

We know that our minds and bodies are integrally linked: the state of one affects the other. We also realize that as we are constantly running in the emergency mode, for which, our mind and body pay the price.

Frequently one is feeling frazzled and overwhelmed and we know it’s time to bring back the balance into your life.

Stress lowers our immune system and makes us prone to various diseases whereas a relaxed mind helps to strengthen the defense system against diseases and also trigger’s “happy hormones” within us.

Ideally for us, our home should be our heaven, a perfect refuge to get away from the tensions of the outside world. I personally am not in favor of designer homes as they lack warmth and comfort of our own zone.

I believe that our house should reflect our personality, only then it becomes a home. But then we can always opt for one room where one can create an environment that beats the stress within our systems.

It is very important to protect our self from  the effects of stress in our life and I would highly recommend a few tips, which will help you create the right mind and body balance:

Make your physical space

Create a space within your home which is own private den. When you are there you should feel most relaxed as it is your own private area where you can be with yourself. Read, write, reflect. Negotiate with your family and tell them that this is a place where you can spend  “me” time and  you must not be disturbed.

This space should be a supportive environment where you can accomplish your tasks in peace and privacy.

Make your own mental space

Once a week create opportunities where you can reflect on your own personal issues and assimilate the changing thoughts and feelings that arise within you. Distance yourself from the demands of your loved ones and take stock of your own needs.

Ask your family to respect your time.

Take a long bath

This is one of the most relaxing things you can do.  Get away from all the negative energies and put your mind in a fresh perspective.

Ensure that family members share the household tasks.  This way you can have adequate time for your own self.

As we progress in relaxing ourselves, we continue to create a feasible environment around us by making an effort towards the following factors.

The art of placement

Your environment strongly influences your sense of well being. Find ways to make your immediate environment conducive to your state of mind.

Whatever makes you happy should be around you. Hang mirrors to reflect negative energies and use good Feng Shui techniques to see to it that your surroundings are in harmony with the universal life energy to encourage prosperity and health into your life.

Use natural materials
Sleeping between freshly laundered cotton sheets is always very relaxing. Natural materials look and feel good. Change into comfy cotton clothes when you get home to feel relaxed.

Let in light
Natural light always affects our mood positively. Artificial light causes headaches, low energy and eye strain. Let in as much natural light into your home as possible.

Soft lighting

During the evening, relax in the glow of some soft lamps.

Wake up early
Early morning light always revives you. Feel the energy of the morning sun, and bask in the glory of the long and fulfilling day that lies ahead of you.

Ventilation

Open the windows in your house everyday to let in fresh air and let out stale smells.

Bring nature indoors

Houseplants enhance the beauty interiors. You breathe in nature at its best. Keep herb pots in the kitchen to  benefit from their therapeutic qualities.

A garden retreat
Create a small terrace garden where you can sit and relax. It is a great joy to sit amidst
 pots of flowers.
