HONOURABLE CONDUCT
HAIR
The hair on the head is a thing of beauty;
Removed from its place, it becomes filth.
Save the hair as it is the fate of man
Who fall from their own level
of honourable conduct and demean themselves.
MAN
When the creator
desired to see the excellence
of his own
creations,
he created man after his own image.
DIFFICULTY
There is nothing like a difficulty.
You should turn adverse circumstances
to your advantage.
“Difficulty is only a word
indicating the degree of strength
requisite
for accomplishing particular objects.
A mere notice of the necessity
for extortion,
a bug bear to children and fools;
ONLY a stimulus to men.”
RICHES
Riches are the prettiest and least worthy gifts
which god can give to a man.
They are apt to betray a man into arrogance.

Many clothes are torn
in getting them,
many a tooth broken in cracking them,
but never a belly filled with eating them.”
Wisdom
Wisdom is the weapon of the wise.
Success travels with

To think and then act.

error.

To profit by mistake.

charitable
To shoulder deserved blame.
BUT it always

LOVE
Love is universal.
Like heat, light, electricity or magnetism,
it is a form of universal energy.
God’s force which shows itself
in smiles and laughter,

kindness and charity in gentleness,
invisible.
PEACE
If you have peace within yourself,
you have nothing to worry
at all.
“He that is in peace is not suspicious of any.

is dis-contented and troubled
is tossed with diverse suspicions.

NOBLE THOUGHTS
He is never alone who is accompanied with noble thoughts.
Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, man cannot live
without a spiritual life.
LIVING
“Live one day at a time.”
You have to yourself climb the steps to Nirvana.
You cannot depend upon help from outside.
The spirit in man is the helper of his soul.
Attachment
Wanting objects breeds attachment
From attachment arises covetousness,
Covetousness leads to anger
Anger destroys memory
And choice is rendered.
And man dooms.
ANGER
From anger arises delusion;
From delusion, loss of memory,
The discriminative faculty is ruined.
And from the ruin of discrimination,
Man perishes.
FEARLESSNESS
“Fearlessness is the greatest virtue
one should cultivate
otherwise there could be no hope”
Be not afraid of anything. You are nobody.
It is fear that is the great cause of misery in the world.
GATE TO LIFE
Straight is the gate,
narrow is the way,
which leads into
life
and a few shall be true to find it.
EVIL
How could there be any help from outside?
By oneself the
evil is done, and it is oneself who suffers.
By oneself, the evil is not done
and by oneself one becomes pure.
The pure and impure comes from one self.
No man can be pure
purify another.
GOD
You may listen to discourses of the sages,
study scriptures,
become learned.
But if you have not enthroned god in your heart,
you have
achieved nothing.
WEALTH
Wealth does to you more harm than good.
wealth contaminates the virtues of the wise.”
WISDOM
It is wisdom, not external pleasure
that shows the way to
salvation and immortality.
Children pursue the external pleasure
and so they fall into
the snare of wide spread death.
But the wise do not desire.
ACTIONS
By persisting in doing bad actions
you do not expect good
result.
“As you sow, so shall you reap.”
After cutting down a mango tree,
you cannot plant a neem
(found in India
and expect to reap the some tasty mango fruit from
it,
even if you water to neem with milk.
GREAT MAN
Who is really a great man?
“There is no great man who makes everybody feel small.
The really great man is the man
who makes every man feel
great.”
WORK IS NOT BURDEN
The day’s work is no burden at all.
It becomes so only when
you postpone things.
“No man ever sank under the burden of the day,
It’s when tomorrow’s burden is added to burden of today
That weight is more than a man can bear.
RICHES
What really makes a man really rich?
Certainly, not his bank
balance.
No man can tell whether he is rich or poor by turning to his
ledger.
It is the heart that makes a man rich.
He is rich according to what he is,
Not according to what he has.
BROODING
Do not waste your today by brooding over tomorrow.

JESUS CHRIST
Because of his unbounded generosity,
Lord Jesus Christ chose
to be poor
so that you can be rich.
“The lord of us all was rich beyond our

yet he become poor for your sake so that
his poverty might make you
rich.”
FORTUNE
Fortune turns like a mill wheel and he,
who was yesterday at
the top lies today at the bottom.
Hope for going up.
HAPPINESS
The source of happiness is within us.
We have to only find
out, know it and realize it.
Your own happiness depends on the way other people bear
themselves towards you.
Your daily conduct make up very much of the pleasure of
misery of your day.
“Whether each day of your life shall give happiness or
suffering rests with yourself.”
WOMEN
Women of perverse nature
are a misery to the whole family.
How do women attain the status of queens of the home?
Serve your elders and conduct yourself
as a loving friend
towards co-wives though wronged,
do not, in a fit of anger act hostile to your
husband.
Be extremely considerable
towards your dependents and do not become elated with pride
in prosperity.
FEAR
Fear is born of ignorance.
It deprives man of manliness.
It
is worse than death.
“Practice of fearlessness is imperative
for not only the
seeker of wisdom
but also for all who want to thrive in life.”
SUCCESSFUL MAN
Successful man is the one
who has built his firm foundation
from the bricks thrown at him
by others.
PRAYER
There is nothing that you cannot achieve by prayer.
“Payer has been the saving of my life,
without it,
I should
have been a lunatic long ago.
I have my fair share in the bitterest of public and private
experiences.
They threw me into temporary despair,
but if I was able to get rid
of it, it was because of prayer.”
LOVE
It does you no big credit if you love those who love you.
For even sinners love those who love them.
If you lend to those from whom you hope to receive,
What credit is that to you?
“ Love your enemies and do good and lend,
expecting nothing
in return and your reward will be great.”
SAFETY
Better safe than sorry.
Being at wrong place at wrong time
means inviting danger to life and belongings.
Public talk and excessive disclosure to the public
endangers safety.
FREEDOM
One cannot enjoy freedom himself
when he denies it to
others.
Sharing of freedom among fellow beings
gives the greatest of
happiness.
“He who builds walls to create exclusion for others,
builds
walls across his own freedom.
He who distrusts freedom on others
loses his moral right to
it.”

PROPER MEDITATION
Meditation goes a long way in helping us realize God. But we
spend a great part of every day gossiping and indulging in meaningless
conversations. Constant talking keeps us from resorting dhyana.
A bee buzzes around a flower searching for honey. As long as
it is circling the flower, it doesn’t resort to drawing of honey from it. But
the moment it stops buzzing and alights on the flower, it sucks honey.
Likewise, as long as we indulge about something or the
other, we will never be able to approach God. But the moment we stop talking,
we are able to introspect and ultimately, this kind of silent meditation is
what will take us nearer to God, said D. Gnanasundram in a lecture.
God cannot be sought in books. Scholarship, cannot make a
person God-realised. God has to be experienced. Once speech ceases, the process
of understanding begins.
When we fry something in oil, a sizzling sound is heard,
until whatever is being fried is done. After that, the oil stops spluttering.
Similarly, a talkative person is shallow and is a half-baked seeker of God.
Those who meditate on Him are the ones who will realize Him.
God is simple and, therefore, does not require us to resort
to penance to reach Him. If He were so demanding, most of us would never be
released from the cycle of births and deaths. He shows us the easy way of
reaching Him, through prayer and meditation. Proper meditation comes only with
practice.
There are many who make a mockery of vows of silence. Those
who resort to maun vrata (fast of silence) are sometimes more distracted
when they are silent than they are at other times. While they observe mauna
vrata, they ask for paper and pen and write down their questions and observe.
This kind of writing sometimes is so extensive that it is obvious
that the person observes the vrata as a formality. It is almost as if he could
not wait for the period of silence to be over.
He is so involved to observing what is going on around him
and can hardly wait to participate in the conversations others have.
Such a person’s silence will yield him no benefits.
WORK
Nobody should avoid work.
“Through work alone can one remove the bondage of work, not
by avoiding work.
Total detachment comes later on.
One should not be without
work even for a moment.
Censure is the tax man pays to the public for being
eminent."
SPEECH
It’s a good idea to keep your words soft and sweet,
because you never know, when you may have to eat them.
FOCUS
Undivided attention on one thing
at a time which one does is
the surest way to success.
“I take up one thing in order after another,
I try to fix my
whole thoughts upon the one thing that lies before me,
as if I had nothing else
to attend to. In this way,
I get on very well as what is done systematically.”
SHORTCOMINGS
The blind man is not the one
who has lost his eyes,
But
The one
who hides his shortcomings.
EDUCATION
Riches and property are not the best inheritance
that a
father can provide for his son.
An education is that which will fit him
to take an honoured
place among cultured men.

GOD
The debate on the existence of God has been there for ages.
“You see many stars in the sky at night, but not when the
sun rises.
Can you therefore say that there are no stars in the heavens
during the day?
O man, because you cannot find god in the days of your
ignorance,
say not there is no
God.”
CHARACTER
While character reveals the composite nature of the man,
His other constituents disclose his other aspects.
“Manners reveal the food;
Speech reveals education
And eyes reveal the kindness.”
SELF-MASTERY
He who has attained mastery over himself
is indeed a great conquerer
than who has vanquished a thousand enemies,
a thousand times more powerful than he,
yet remains a slave to his sensory self.
VALUE OF GOOD WORDS
What is the value of good words?

more thirst than a bucket of water.”
ANGER
Anger is sometimes sinful and sometimes not.
“Anger is not sinful, because some degree of it
and or some occasion
is inevitable.
But it becomes sinful when it contradicts the rule of
scriptures,
is conceived upon slight and inadequate provocation, and
when it continues for long.”
LEARNING
The man of learning lives even after his death.
The ignorant man is dead, while still alive.

REMEDY
Misery is a remedy, where joy is a melody

Misery makes a man humble while joy makes him proud.
BEST USE OF RICHES
The best use to which riches could be put
to is for
charitable purposes.
Otherwise, it is just dust and useless.
“Riches without charity are worth nothing,
they are blessing only to him who makes them
a blessing to
others.”
BALANCE OF MIND
Whatever the favourable

adverse circumstances you may be facing,
you should not lose your balance.

You may have a number of appointments to keep,

Never forget to keep your appointment with God.
FREE MAN
The truly free man is the one who will turn down
an invitation to dinner without giving an excuse.
EORNAMENT, SECURITY AND TONIC
The best ornament is humility,
The richest wealth is wisdom:
The best security is faith;
The best tonic is laughter.
HIGHEST BLISS
Which is the highest bliss?
There is no fire like lust and
No crime like hatred.
There is no ill like weak body
and no bliss highest than peace.
POWER OF HUMANS
There is nothing that cannot be overcome in life.

Likewise, the man practicing yoga out of curiosity and
abandons it later gains nothing.
Steadfastness in yoga is essential.”

may be wiped clear again;
but if once cracked can
never be repaired.”
WISH
I(God) give people what they want in the hope,
They begin to want what I(God) want to give them.
HAPPINESS
Why destroy present happiness by a distant misery
Which may never come at all, or you may never live to see
it?
