WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

POLICE NEED TO WORK HARDER

WHERE our daughters, sisters and wives are vulnerable to ghastly crimes, the whole talk of women empowerment is a sham.

As long as conviction rate remains low, rapes will keep happening.

The police force from top to bottom, needs to be upright, honest and energetic. The grit, determination, perseverance, innovation and stamina of the investigating agencies are abysmally low and smack of apathy and neglect in investigation and registration of rape cases.

Deterrent laws and better quality of investigation and protection are required to take or other criminal cases to their logical end in courts.

Judges have legal compulsions, they cannot go by emotions and sentiments but by evidence and facts presented by Prosecution Department. The Criminal Law Amendment Bill dealing with sexual offences should be made deterrent by incorporating exemplary punishment to the rapists.

A VISIT TO BHARUCH (GUJARAT)

I was invited by Dr. Bhagubhai Prajapati, B.Sc., B.Ed, M.Ed., Ph.D principal Narayan Vidalaya, Bharuch (Gujrat-

India

) for inspiring, counseling and motivating 1600 students of the school.

It was less and invitation from the school and more my intention to get my parents traveled one of the best cities of Gujarat.

My parents – mother and father – aged 75 and 79 respectively accompanied me. We stayed at Dr. Bhagubhai’s residence and enjoyed his hospitality. His daughter and wife really worked hard to keep everything tidy for us.

From 12^th December, 2012 to 18^th December, 2012 half of the time I encouraged, inspired, counseled and motivated the students from class 6 to class 12^th. The students are very brilliant and have clear vision what they have to do in their lives. Kids loved shaking hand with me. They touched my feet and I blessed them with grand success and happiness.

I was surprised when I asked one student: What is your career plan, great daughter? She answered: I wish to be happy. I had never thought to hear this. Generally students wanted to be doctor, engineer, army man/woman, teacher etc. But this student had a novel career plan – to be happy in life.

This answer from a small kid forced my mind to think : Am I happy? What should I do to be happy? This unique answer has triggered many more thoughts in the mind.

In our daily routine, after inspiring, counselling and motivation contacts with the students at the school, we enjoyed visiting:

Kabir Badh where we enjoyed bathing in Narmada river.
A temple built as replica of 5000 years old Sri Yantra on the side of Narmada and participated in the evening prayer for the world peace. Aarti and jyoti really rejuvenated us all.
Very first day, we went to attend the evening prayer at Akshardham Temple at Bharuch. The architecture of the temple is worth appreciating and emulation for other temples.
We – me, my parents, Dr, Bhagubhai and Mrs of Dr, Bagubhai enjoyed hot and cold water bath at Lusiana. It was energizing bath which immediately activated all of us. After the bath we felt quite relaxed and felt light.
Chowkidhani at Surat is a unique concept translated to highlight the Rajasthani culture in Gujarat. Dinner served by smiling young men was delicious. We got ourselves photographed from a professional photographer wearing Rajasthani turban. A new experience indeed!
At Vadodra, we saw the zoo and museum and enjoyed dinner with dosa.
On the sea shore at Dahej, the industrial complex being developed by Gujrat Government is very vast and excellent. Wide roads, big industries, railing for lifting material from sea shore shipped by ships gave a panoramic view. We visited a ship-building factory. Huge ships under construction on one side and vast water bed on the other side gave a view that pleased the watcher’s mind.
Flowers, crops in vast fields in Dahej and alongside the road really added to our pleasure.
On 19^th December, 2012, my parents accompanied me to the school at 7 am and attended the prayer. They were the guests for that day prayer. Speeches were made in Gujrati languages in their appreciation, regular school prayer was made, songs were sung to welcome them and shawls were given as token to respect and love to all three of us. My parents were very happy and proud to receive these bouquets and presents from the senior teachers of the schools.
Photos and videos were made and recorded DVDs were given to us. My parents say: This 19^th December, 2012 is most memorable day of their lives. Before this , they were never hononoured like this.
Enjoyed tasty food at the home of Mr. V.N.Dharia and Mrs. Dharia. Mr. Dharia is a former principal who worked as an excellent principal for over 35 years and is a director of a school now. He and hise wife both are very good humans. Every time I visit Bharuch, we are invited for dinner which is enjoyed to the fullest of our taste buds.
I am feeling an inner peace which I had never experienced in life. My gods i.e. my parents are happy and this occasion has given them lease of about 10-20 years of life. Now they will be appreciating and talking with others of this occasion with great enthusiasm. Memories of the occasion will be a driving force to them. After all I am in the world due to my parents. When I was a new-born child, they gave me milk, food and paid for my education. I just wished that they be happy. Now they are.

I have commented in one of the discussions of Harvard Business Review: This tour to Bharuch is memorable because my parents accompanied me. It was historic and most happiest moment of life when on 19th December, 2012, my parents and me were sitting on the stage along with principal and one senior teacher. About 1600 students of the school were sitting in front of us in colorful uniforms- little, small and , young. My parents were honored with shawls and flowers. My mother is illiterate and father just matriculate. Both were feeling on the top of the world at that time. I touched their feet in front of those 1600 students and later on many teachers in their speeches appreciate my this gesture and expressed that they were happy as I had brought my parents along with me.

Suzani - a type of quilt- which is a souvenir from Bharuch was presented to my parents.

77 years old appears in IGNOU entrance exam

Openness and flexibility have always been a prominent feature of any ODL system, but success of this learners friendly system also depends upon learners attitude towards it. Especially in the case of elderly people between the age group of 60 years and above. But, when a person is determined to achieve something, age does not matter. It turned into reality when a 77 years old candidate appeared in M.Phil/ Ph.D. entrance examination at Indira Gandhi National Open University headquarters.

The candidate Mr. Binay Kumar (Mobile No.09430225564) who come far from Patna to take the test has already completed successfully the Post Graduate in Distance Education (PGDDE) and Master of Arts in Distance Education (MADE) from Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE), IGNOU.

Surprisingly, septuagenarian Mr. Kumar was not alone at the examination centre, there were about 10 more aspirants in 55-65 age group who turned up to take the entrance examination this year. But Mr. Kumar was the eldest among all of them and as serious as his younger competitors.

1936 born, Mr. Binay Kumar, spent more than 30 years of his life in government job and retired from the service in 1994. He worked as a research officer (Statistics) in Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Bihar.

When he was asked, what were the motivating factors which forced him to take test for the admission in Ph.D. in Distance Education, Kumar replied, “I had attended 13th conference of Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) held in Delhi in 1994 as a common participant. The theme of the conference was ‘Structure and Management of Open Learning System’. After attending the deliberations during the various technical sessions I realized that the theme of the conference was similar to my spiritual organization which focuses on better life and education for all. At the same conference I decided to pursue higher education which is a best mode to provide education to all sections of the society at affordable cost.”

I want to study further because, “It helps you in maintain regularity and discipline in your daily life; apart from this I believe in life-long learning process,” adds Mr. Kumar.

This ambitious person lives in Shri Krishna Nagar locality in Patna, and has four well settled sons and two daughters. One of the sons is doctor, another lawyer, third one is working with the Punjab National Bank while the fifth one is settled in

Canada

. Both the daughters are post graduate, teaching in government high schools.

How I Managed My 50+ Problems?

Subodh is a wonderful guy who shares very valuable experiences of his life. One day he came and narrated his experience between 40-50 years of life.

Right from birth, my mother told me that this world is run by God.

Money was never seen in the hand of my mother. She was educated upto 3^rd class but always insisted that educated people make laws and run the country. Others follow those laws.

This reinforcement that education makes a person capable of living a better life made me get best education and I became an Associate Professor.

I went on meditating and reading holy-scriptures. Everything was going well till the age of 40. I was full of energy and everything done without caring for consequences. Every hurdle was treated as if it was a fiddle.

But at 40 I started feeling some changes are happening in my body.

By 45+ I found that my libido was at the peak. I recollected the words of a preacher: Life has 3 stages in general – spiritual, natural and real. This sermon of the preacher when correlated with my own condition, I found I am in natural state of mind where raw senses and sense organs pre-dominate thinking.

By the year 50+, I had lost all interest in libido and had realized that I am living on planet Earth and have to be real.

I suffered heart attack, underwent depression and coma and this all caused my donating everything I had as I felt that no more I shall be in this world.

But life gives the surprises.

What I thought as end of the road, that turned out to be bend of the road and I came out of depression and coma. I had bounced back to life - normal.

By this time, I had no money on me as all my money had been given in charity and the organization to which donated ref used to help me. I was shocked.

I was surprised. But, looking at the sky, smilingly I again mustered my courage and did some changes in my life style using "empathy" without telling anyone in my family.

Daily nagging by the family members was the biggest problem. I asked one of my friends to allow me to spend the day in his office. He agreed and I started going and sitting in his office for 10 hrs. This saved me from the nagging of my family members.
This improved my mental health and I started thinking what to do next to restart the life.
I wrote a small book.
For launching the book, I needed money which my family was not ready to give.
I prayed, prayed and prayed mentally to God, to living parents who live at a distant place and ancestors who are in heaven, I believe.
Lo! My prayers were answered and one day I received a call from one of my old students who was taught 13 years back and was in States. He is doctor there.
The student asked me that he was having an intense feeling to talk to me for the past over 3-4 months. Then I was reminded of “telepathy” system. He asked me for any help as he was a very rich person.
Reluctantly, I disclosed my condition and he helped me by sending money.
My book is released and being sold like hot cakes.
This way I re-started my life at 55^th year of life. I am very happy.
Faith favours the faithful, I feel..

SHIFTING FROM RESIDENCE TO MY FRIEND’S OFFICE WAS A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE.

IT SAVED ME FROM DAILY NAGGING FROM MY FAMILY MEMBERS AND I RECOUPED MY LOST HEALTH AND CONFIDENCE.

By health I mean – mental and physical health. As mental health improved, thought process turned from negative to positive and positive thinking improved my physical health. During this toughest time of my life, I felt that I am all alone. I came to know who I am. Who are the people around me? How much a person should earn and share with others.

I also learnt,if I will not wish to live, nobody can save me. Doctors consulted told me this is male menopause whereas elders told that once in life time this happens. Whatever it be, toughest phase is over.

What I learnt from this phase of life, a person must never lose hope and believe that darkest hour of night is always followed by bright day.

This belief made me live again.

THIS ENABLED ME TO WRITE THE BOOK AND TAKE ON RENT ONE OFFICE FOR CONCENTRATING ON MY CHOICEST CAREER- BOOK WRITING. I FEEL HAPPY NOW. I love writing.
