WE AND OUR CHILDREN

By Dr. S. Radhakrishnan,
Former President of India.

Children constitute the wealth of the country and by directing their energies in proper channels, we improve the physical and mental health of whole community.

We have worshipped the divine Lord Krishna. One of the most famous symbols of the Christian religion is the picture of the Medonna and the Child. To become like a little child is not easy. It costs us a great deal to acquire the grace and meekness of the child. The Chinese thinker Mencies observed: “A great man is one who has not lost the child’s heart.’

There are things which are hidden from the learned and reavealed to babes. Narada, who gives the knowledge of the Supreme Self approaches Sanatkumara who is represented in Indian tradition as an eternal child. The learned Narada goes to the unlearned Sanatkumara for instruction.

The child symbolizes open mindedness, receptivity. Children are warm-hearted and eager to make friends. A child’s personality is sensitive and responds rapidly to the surrounding influences. Physical care of children is not enough, emotional care is also needed.

By helping the children to love their fellows whatever be their caste or community, we will develop a sense of brotherhood. By bringing the children in one fold today, we foster tomorrow a sense of community among all Indians.

In our country we train children to feel that they are members of this caste or that community, of this province or that language group, and thus give a wrong twist to their minds.

When it is our desire to train our people to feel that they are first and foremost citizens of this great land, this direction of the mind will have to start when they are little children. Every child is an experiment, an adventure into nobler life, an opportunity to change the old pattern and make it new. Every child is a distinct individual.

We have to give our children a sense of the great spiritual heritage and make them feel proud of their Indianness. We should give children an idea of our culture that all religions lead to God and they are only different pathways. To quarrel about the ways to God is both irrelevant and irreligious. Religious intolerance is against the spirit for which this country has stood for centuries. Our culture tells us that God dwells in the hear of every being, even if he be wicked or degenerate. This faith is the basis of democracy. It asks us to practise charity, self-control and compassion. It impresses on us the importance of our action since every action has a reaction.

The world is a moral order. Transgression of the moral law is followed by punishment. We cannot be unjust with impunity. We must therefore love justice. These lessons are to be conveyed to the children by means of songs and stories, play and work. By celebrating national festivals and anniversaries of great leaders, children grasp the spirit of our heritage. Excursions may reveal them to the vastness of our country and the greatness of its art and architecture.

Children get their first picture of the past from historical tales. History books should be carefully written and should promote friendship among nations. We must help our children to think of India as a whole, as a nation with its part to play in the world. Books and films for children should be carefully prepared. There should be special radio programmes for children into which great care, vitality and imaginative experience are put. Radio and cinema must enlarge the horizons of children. We must keep children aware of the value of good reading. Great books are the basis of our culture and civilization.

Care of children is not only a science but an art. We need people who have a genuine love and respect for children. It is essential that ideas of children’s welfare should spread in villages. Many ladies of middle class families may be in a position to spare few hours a week and be trained for this purpose. Municpalities and Town Committees should consider their duty to provide parks and playgrounds, libraries and nurseries, balbhavans for children, for sometimes neither home nor schools offer facilities. The children should be given high priority in our plans for social reconstruction.

TRUE POWER

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER AND IDEAS RULE THE WORLD

Dear Friend,

Doing the right thing, in the right way and at the right time will produce the right results you want, and deliver the goods.
In other words, knowing what to do, when, where and how is the master-key to your success. Gain knowledge and get ideas. Know the things over which you have power and shape them to your advantage. Learn and analyse your strengths and weaknesses. Achieve and accomplish through study and practice. You have total power over your attitude, outlook and conduct. Think positively and act decisively. You have complete control over your appearance and approach, attitude and aptitudes, words and voice, health and habits.
If you want people to flock to you, ring wedding bells and do not sound funeral chimes. Appreciate what others do for you and make the appreciation come from your heart. People crave for recognition and appreciation. It is all in what you say and how you say. Even more important, you must first establish yourself as a good and appreciative listener. Everyone want, nay, truly craves, for an enthusiastic and appreciative audience. Therefore, be a good listener first and talker next. It is better and wiser to listen with interest when you have the urge to talk. Become and remain an enthusiastic and interesting listener and encourage the other person to talk. One learns and gets to know by listening. On the other hand, one only exposes oneself by talking. You get the advantage when you listen and lose it when you talk.
You can make people feel important by asking them to talk and tell you about their accomplishments and achievements. Let them have the chance of playing the big hero. If you want an individual to like you and take to you instantly, let him feel that you really like him and are favourably impressed by him.
Words which convey joy, speech that spells success, and sounds that ring wedding bells, attract and bring others to your fold. Banish negative words like defeat, depression, failure, misfortune, pain, sickness, trouble etc. from your thoughts, vocabulary and expression. Words move people. Let us use them to build up people – to make them feel better, feel important, feel wanted, feel big and happy.
Sounding the success bells for you for a bright and prosperous future.

FATE AND FAITH

WHERE FATE FAILS,
FAITH PREVAILS.
WHEN ALL THE DOORS ARE CLOSED BY FATE,
FAITH OPENS ANOTHER DOOR.
WHILE FATE SAYS,
THIS IS THE END OF THE ROAD;
THEN FAITH SAYS,
NO, CHILD THIS IS THE BEND OF THE ROAD.
FAITH IS GREATER THAN FATE

THE WORLD WITHIN YOU

FIND THE WORLD WITHIN YOU
By Dr. K.V.GOVINDA RAO*

Some times we face an amusing question: Where do we belong? Before we go in quest of answer, we must realize that we belong to ourselves. We are an island within ourselves. That island can be as barren as rocks on the moon or as fruitful as an orchard or a beautiful countryside. It is within us to make of ourselves what we want to be – creatively, not destructively. You train for your goals, but they must be realistic, not dreams beyond your reach.
During moments of stress and tension, we can take a vacation. We can take this vacation every day for a few moments and it costs nothing. The daily vacation is within you, in the room of your mind. Go on this vacation when pressures are great. Relax for a few minutes, let go of the tensions, renew your energies for the problems before you.
Isn’t it wonderful to be an island within yourself briefly? But you do not stay that way. You belong to yourself, no doubt, but you also belong to the world. ‘Happiness’ lies within the world, not totally within yourself. Prepare yourself to create a perfect rhythm between these two. You realize that you need the help of others as they need yours. Man reaches his true big self when he shares his success and his big self with others. He shares his courage with others when times are tough, when there is pressure. He stands up for himself and for others, turning a crisis into an opportunity. The world is full of crisis, and we are here to help each other rise above them, to reach fulfillment, and sooner or later, the Brotherhood of Man.

WONDER OF FAITH.

By Sehaj**
Once there was a girl name Rose. She tried hard in everything. But achieved nothing. She worked hard till day and night to study, think about her future and career. Although, she was hard-working but she was deaf and a mute girl.
Once, some one told her(by the sign communication) that if she drinks water and cleans her ears with the fountains of great Church of Greece, she would be totally fine.
But that was a lie. No matter everyone tried to stop her but her ideas were strong and lively. The doctors told that she could never be fine as she was deaf and mute by birth.
She didn’t believe in the doctors and went to Greece.
She was so scared that when she drank the water and cleaned her ears with it, she was surprised. What a magic! What a miracle, she said. I am totally fine and I am so happy that now I can speak and hear and need no more to use my hands everytime to communicate. When she went to the doctors, they were shocked. Now they knew what she believed, she really-really worked hard to achieve it. When she went back to her country, she thanked her Lord Jesus and the boy who told her to do this.
When he came to know that by doing what he said ( a lie) she became fine. He felt sorry for her and told her the truth. She couldn’t believe her ears. Now she understood why the doctors didn’t believe her.

** Sehaj is aged 10 years and is studying in 5th class. She wrote the story on 31st January, 2008. Her feelings are appreciated. Paper landed in my hand and hence is ready for the world to read and appreciate.

RESIDENCE OF GOD

Neither the God is available in the Temples,
Nor the God is available in Mosques.
Neither the God is available in Gurdwara,
Nor the God is available in the Church.
Neither the God is available in the Mecca,
Nor the God is available by wearing Underwears and bangles
.
Neither the God is available by having a bath in the Ganga,
Nor the God is available in Qaaba.
The God is available for those only,
Who have got their feelings- clear and pious.
Who love all the creation of God equally,
Whose heart is full of love, mercy and purity
Devoid of vasnas(ill temptations and over expectations).
Enlighten yourself and you will find God within you.....

Ideas

Ideas Work Wonders

Dear Friends,

Success starts with a thought or an idea.

When nourished with hope and confidence and encouraged by ambition and aspiration, that single idea takes shape as a dream, vision, and a goal in stages. You must allow your ideas to grow, no matter how farfetched or non-comformist they may seem in the beginning. You must give wings to your ideas and let them fly high. You must allow your thoughts to take root, no matter how others choose to regard them.

Many great ones, whom the world today worships with awe and wonder as gifted visionaries, super geniuses or miracle-makers, were viewed as utopians or mental defuncts by several of their contemporaries. While some may describe your ideas as imagination and vision, others may dub them as sheer day dreams and idle fantasies. But the fact remains that ideas, however, strange, unorthodox or heretic they might have seemed at the start, have ultimately wrought miracle, brought revolutions and built civilization.

Ideas verily rule the world, and also the minds of men. They contribute to continuing changes, shape as well as determine the destiny of human beings and contribute to the growth of civilizations. Every great and grant accomplishment, whether relating to religion, science, medicine, industry, technology, or sports, which are written in letters of gold in the history of human advancement, was in the first instance, no more than a mere idea in the mind of a human being, be he a man or woman. Revered religious texts, great classics, magnificent monuments, astonishing scientific discoveries, earth shaking inventions, fantastic technological feats like splitting the atom, heart transplant, human walking on the Moon, unraveling the secrets of Mars – have all had only ‘ideas’ at their starting points.

Ideas sprout, blossom, and lead to action with knowledge. Therefore, your success is irrevocably linked to knowledge. Knowledge is strength and knowledge is power. When you apply your knowledge and understand your problem, you will find the solution staring at you. When you know the answers, your success in an examination, test or interview is automatically assured. When you know the secret of your business, your profit and growth are guaranteed.
You do not have to go very far for an example.

The track record of Yuki Bhmabri, the young tennis star who won the 2009 Australian Open boys’ single title, is enough to prove the fact.

Today, at only 16, he symbolizes the resurgent spirit of India that not only thinks and dreams big, but also tries to translate every dream into action. In a physically demanding sport like tennis, he has done a marvel with sheer clarity of thought and mental toughness. Yuki has differently honed his game and keenly improved his physical fitness to come up to the mark.

By winning the Australian Open boys’ singles title, Yuki joined a legion of players from Lwe Head, Ken Rosewell, Rod Laver, John NewCombe, Tony Roche, Stefan Edberg and Thomas Enqvist to the more recent ones like Nicolas Kiefer, Andy Roddick, Janko Tiparevic, Marcos Bhagdatis and Gaol Manfil, who have all triumphed at the oldest junior Grand Slam event that started in 1922. He can courageously stand up to the challenges from players with explosive game. In his formative years, critics often questioned his technique, specially his pronounced backswing, but they have been silenced, as Yuki has evolved a lot.

Enabling you to gain ideas and win in life.

HEALTH

Health & Harmony

Auras

What are the auras? We each possess a “magnetic” field that radiates from us in the same way that the Sun’s rays emanate from its centre. This is the aura, and it partakes and reflects our mental, spiritual and emotional states. We all create the characteristics of our own auras by our mental, spiritual and emotional habits.

So aura is an extension of a person’s character. It is the aura we are “feeling” – with our own aura – when we feel instantaneously conscious of the strength of another’s personality and charisma.
