Everyone loves to go on vacation! People visit different places and do different things when on a vacation. People on a holiday, travel to distant parts of the world to see great buildings or other works of art, to learn new languages, to experience new cultures, to participate in or watch sports, to taste new cuisines and for many more different reasons.

Historical or heritage tourism is a branch of tourism oriented towards the cultural heritage of the location where tourism is occurring. Culture and history has always been a major object of travel. Cultural heritage includes buildings and historic places, monuments, artifacts etc., that are considered worthy of preservation for the future. These include objects significant to archaeology, architecture, science or technology of a specific culture. Smaller objects such as artworks and other cultural masterpieces are collected in museums and art galleries. The tourists interested in historical travel seek adventure, culture, history, archaeology and interaction with local people. This type of tourism involves visiting historical sites, buildings, museums etc. The overall purpose is to gain an appreciation of the past.
Cultural tourism includes tourism in urban areas, particularly historic or large cities and their cultural facilities such as museums and theatres. It can also include tourism in rural areas showcasing the traditions of indigenous cultural communities (i.e. festivals, rituals), and their values and lifestyle. Many historic places have shows where the historical events have been dramatized to make them more entertaining. Every place in the world has a history but some places are more known for their historical past like Europe, Chine, India etc. These places have monuments and artifacts dating back to hundreds of centuries and they draw a huge number of tourists.
